The importance of fitness and exercise.

The importance of fitness and exercise. Good Health is More Than Just Looking GoodGood fitness and nutrition are key aspects not only in appearance but in living long, healthy lives. One may look fabulous, both fit and healthy, while being just as unhealthy as an obese person. The exact opposite is true, also. A person may be a little overweight but have a healthy heart and diet. My case and point: You cannot judge a person's health just by looking at them. The only way to find out if one is eating healthy and getting the proper amounts and types of exercise is by looking at their diet and activity level. It is important to first start with a good eating plan. Age, health issues, and level of physical activity are just a few factors that should be taken into consideration when writing a meal plan for a person. For example, a young, healthy, and active person can eat more freely than an older person with high cholesterol who does not get much physical activity.English: Healthy nutrition pyramid with 7 to 9 ser...On average, a person should try to eat 6-11 servings of grains, 3-5 servings of fruits, 3-5 servings of vegetables, 2-3 servings of dairy, 2-3 servings of meat, and consume fats and sugars sparingly each day. One should shoot for this range until he/she can have an eating plan written for them. The number of servings a person should consume daily is useless, however, unless he/she knows what amount of food is considered to be one serving, and what types of food are included in each food group. The following are examples of what can be considered to be one serving of different foods found in each food group:Bread/Starches (includes starchy vegetables such as corn, potatoes, and green peas):‚Â ½ cup cereal, grain, pasta, or starchy vegetables1 slice...

How to Write a Statistical Report on Psychology Studies

How to Write a Statistical Report on Psychology Studies Knowing how to write a statistical report on psychology studies is very important especially when you are soon to complete a psychology study on your own. Part of the reason it is imperative that you understand the different aspects contained in a statistical report is so that you can use psychology studies in the future not only as references but as a potential career possibility. In order to study psychology in school you will be required to complete psychology studies yourself. Knowing the general layout is important. So what is included in a statistical report on psychology studies? Well the first thing you need is a great topic. This topic has to be something that isnt explored yet. You have to be able to add something new to psychology. Some people might explore how children enrolled in private school do better compared to children enrolled in public school. But you might want to take that apart and see if they do better because they have fewer problems at home or because parents are more involved or perhaps because the different socioeconomic status compared between public school and private school affords children greater access to resources. One key aspect to any psychology study is to not only have the hypothesis, but the way you will test that hypothesis. You have to present a literature review where you explain to the reader what reports and studies which relate to your topic have already been completed, and how your topic is different from everything else already published. Once this is done you have to explain the message you used, the participants, the materials, and what you did. Once you gather your results you have to share them using a statistical analysis and then have a discussion about what your results mean to the bigger picture. It is important to note that: In order to make it a statistical report you have to be able to quantify your results. In order for your results to be quantified you need to work with numbers. In order to work with numbers you need to set up a quantitative methodology. In order to use quantitative methodology you need to create a way to test your theory using numbers. If you want to determine whether students perform better taking tests with music playing in the background versus no music playing in the background a quantitative methodology would compare two different groups of students, those with music in the background and those without, and compare the average test score. It might also compare how long it took to complete the score. A more qualitative examination would review perhaps the emotional state or anxiety levels of students in the room with music versus the room without music. Statistical analysis is necessary to look over the results and compare the data. There are specific programs designed to help analyze data, especially large amounts of data in an automatic fashion. Using t-tests or ANOVA tests, or simply searching for medians or statistical averages can be used to present the results of your study. Different statistical analyses are reserved for different types of statistical reports on psychology studies. This was our complete guide on how to write a statistical analysis on psychology studies. You will also benefit from our 10 facts on psychology studies for statistical as well as 20 narrow subtopics that you can explore and 1 sample essay. So be sure to check them.

Criminal Justice Practitioners Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Criminal Justice Practitioners - Assignment Example Identified situations warranted the use of undercover officers, but not in the way applied by those deployed. Actions by the three strange undercover in the third example are crude and without any element of sophistication. It is easy to label actions by the officers as the crudest of the attempts. If they did so in the presence of people, it would be easy to spot them or even confuse them for thugs. It is easy to consider actions by the undercover police in the given examples espionage. The process involves betrayal and deception. It also defines sordid business considering that it involves people pretending to be friends. The greatest allure emanates from the mystery, the quick rush of covert operations, the playing-acting aspects, as well as the fearful, delicious in nature of catching out.Work by the undercover was anathema. It is difficult to call the actions attractive to virtuous people. The police officer in the first example for instance, provoked crime. He carried out research without warrants that could legalize the entire process. Furthermore, his actions appeared thuggish because there was nothing with probable cause. The officer applied a flimsy excuse to stop the suspect after setting a trap for him where he set an empty moneybag lost in the lumberyard in a visible position. The officer was provoking crime after failing to snap up the suspect after theft in the lum beryard. Undercover officers have much secretive power in their hands, but susceptible to misuse. The last example confirms the transition of virtuous people to becoming viscous. It is another reason that undercover officers cannot be virtuous. The officers resort to crude methods after the community extortionist beat all the techniques within the police and judicial systems. The officers used the services of their three other colleagues, not known to the community, to brutally beat the extortionist. After the ordeal underwent by the

Economy Assignment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 5250 words

Economy Assignment - Essay Example We know that exchange rate is influenced by the demand of the particular currency. Sterling exchange rate against Yen has shown significant growth in the first quarter of year 2002. It indicates that the demand of the Sterling have grown against Yen. In the year 2003 Yen have appreciated against Sterling. In reviewing the exchange rate on a broader base than quarterly it is evident that although although 2000 was a year of decline for the Sterling against the Yen, there was a remarkable jumps in the first quarter of 2001 which saw the quarter ending at the same rate per se as the first quarter of 2000 (the quarter in which we began the analysis.) In total for year 2001 the Sterling saw no depreciation against the Yen. After its approximate 12 point jump between the 4th quarter of 2000 and the 1st quarter of 2001, the remainder of the year saw slight growth. Then although not as dramatic as was the 10 point leap between 4th quarter of 2001 and the 1st quarter of 2002. During 2002 saw the first depreciation in the Sterling of approximately 4 points in quarter 2 where it remained constant through the 3rd quarter. Again in between quarter 3 of 2002 and the 4th quarter of 2002 the Sterling gained almost 8 points before dropping slightly in the 1st quarter of 2003 only to moderate in the 2nd quarter and then steadily decline through the end of the quarter. A noticeable factor during the four year analysis other than quarter fluctuations the last quarter of 2003 ended with the Sterling just shy of gaining 15 points against the Yen. Figure 1 As we can see from the graph above, the Sterling exchange rates have depreciated to its minimum during the fourth quarter of year 2000. It was the period when the Iraq war had impacted the global economy as a whole and was not in particular related specifically to the Yen. In the year 2001 it has shown slow and steady growth. The value ranged 172.26 to 178.45 with a growing pattern. During the first quarter of year 2002 it was a good jump in the value of sterling against Yen with an increase realization of almost 12. It was 188.79. This value depreciated in the next two quarters. The fourth quarter of the same year it was maximum of all the four years. The fluctuation pattern of the Sterling exchange rate in the year 2003 has been of depreciation. The Sterling value has increased to 191.9 in the quarter 2 of the 2003 which was higher than the first quarter which again depreciated sharply in the next two quarters. Interview - See details Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Interview - See details - Essay Example Finally, the interview with the parent revealed a perspective greatly varying from the previous internal perspectives. The parent placed most emphasis on student success on the actual student. Introduction The 21st century has ushered in a new host of challenges. While globally there are emerging concerns over energy and the environment, some of the most prominent domestic concerns involve education. If the United States is going to remain successful in this increasingly competitive global world education will undoubtedly play a major role. As a means of investigating some of the challenges and perspectives in education this essay constitutes an analysis of perspectives gained from a teacher, administrator, and parent. To ensure confidentiality the names and personal information of these individuals have been withheld. Analysis The first interview that was conducted was with a teacher. There was a large amount of significant information gained from this interview. The specific teache r works at a high school. They informed me that they currently teach junior and senior level English classes. They have an Advanced Placement class, as well as classes at different ends of the educational spectrum; in this way they indicated that they gain a broad view of the different students at the school. In terms of specific background information they stated that they had a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and had worked for a period in instructional design. They indicated that there were a few difficult parts of the job. To a large extent these challenges seem to be indicative not simply of this teacher’s classrooms, but endemic of the larger school environment. In this way one of the greatest challenges is motivating the lower-tier students. Many of these students refrain from completing any after school work. This makes reading novels or any engaging in any extended material difficult. Additionally, classroom behavior in these environments oftentimes suffers as the students are disengaged from the lesson plan. While the teacher expressed a great amount of joy he received from his profession, it’s clear that he was also disenchanted with much of the process. For instance, he found some of the administration at the school lacking. He indicated that while he recognizes the importance of a strong administrative staff, many of the administrators at the school had not been inside of a classroom in many years. He believed then that there was a significant divide between what their perceptions were and the actual occurrences of the classroom environment. This perspective seemed to be thematic throughout the interview. In this way he believed that innovation and lesson plan development at the school was highly difficult to achieve because of an administrative staff that was chained to antiquated methods of instruction. One notable point he made was that with the onset of the Digital Age students are increasingly engaged with digital technology; still the school environment remains committed to traditional teaching practices. He believed that much of the behavior problems he had in his lower-level English classes can be attributed to students who were rejecting these traditional teaching methods. There is the recognition that research literature has supported this teacher’s position. For instance, Kember (2008, p. 249) indicated that one of the primary determinants of student motivation was perceived relevancy. In these regards it seems
